“For the last twelve years, Lourdes Gray has been teaching Reiki by my side at The John Harvey Gray Center for Reiki Healing. In this time, she has truly mastered my style of teaching and practicing Reiki. I know of no one more qualified to continue my legacy.”
John Harvey Gray,
Reiki Master Teacher, 2008
Unparalleled Experience, a Reputation You Can Trust, the Most Qualified Teacher in the John Harvey Gray System of Reiki Training. Meet Reiki Master Teacher, Lourdes Gray ….
A charismatic and gifted Reiki teacher, Lourdes Gray started studying Reiki with John Harvey Gray in 1994. She was initiated by John Harvey Gray as a Reiki Master Teacher in 1996 following extensive one-on-one training by John Harvey Gray in the teachings of Reiki as originally taught by Hawayo Takata. For Lourdes Gray, the widow of John Harvey Gray, learning from and practicing with John Harvey Gray continued as a twenty-four hour a day experience that lasted for 17 years, until his passing into spirit on January 12, 2011.
In 2008, John Harvey Gray officially designated Lourdes Gray as his sole “Reiki Lineage Bearer.” As a Reiki Master Teacher, Lourdes has taught over 1,500 Reiki classes and trained more than 15,000 Reiki students to date, including numerous doctors, nurses, massage therapists, and bodyworkers, as well as the general public.
Prior to learning Reiki, Lourdes served as a social worker for the hispanic community in Northern Virginia for 15 years, also doing extensive work with the homeless.
Lourdes was one of the first Reiki practitioners to volunteer at the Whitman-Walker Clinic, now Whitman-Walker Health, the largest HIV/AIDS clinic in the Washington, D.C. area. At that time (1994), the Clinic served 750 clients. While there, Lourdes introduced a Reiki treatment protocol for HIV/AIDS designed by John Harvey Gray that produced wonderful results. Impressed by the results, the Clinic requested more Reiki Volunteers. John Harvey Gray and Lourdes Gray contacted their students in the D.C. area and asked them to volunteer … many of them did. John and Lourdes then provided additional Reiki training for the volunteers free of charge. John and Lourdes were instrumental in expanding the Clinic’s Reiki volunteer program. By the time Lourdes left the D.C. area 2 years later to marry John in New Hampshire, the Whitman-Walker Clinic had more than enough Reiki volunteers to service the needs of all 750 clients 24/7. The Clinic’s Reiki volunteer program later led the way to one of the first studies on the benefits of Reiki for HIV/AIDS.
Lourdes and John have brought Reiki to numerous medical facilities including Lowell General Hospital, the Cape Cod Nursing Home, Beacon Hospice, and St. Joseph Manor Nursing Home. Lourdes and John were named “Volunteers of the Year” for the year 2008 by Beacon Hospice for their extensive service.
Many of Lourdes’ Reiki graduates serve as Reiki volunteers at many local hospitals, nursing homes and hospices including Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Lourdes has also taught numerous Reiki classes at both Rowe Conference Center and Interface in Boston.
Since 1996, Lourdes Gray has served as Director of the John Harvey Gray Center for Reiki Healing and currently teaches all of the classes at the Center. Lourdes Gray is the Director of the Reiki Wellness Center (a monthly Reiki clinic held at the Center). Lourdes Gray also serves as the Editor of The John Harvey Gray Center for Reiki Healing newsletter. In 2002, Lourdes Gray and John Harvey Gray co-authored the widely acclaimed biographical and instructional book on Reiki, Hand to Hand: The Longest Practicing Reiki Master Tells His Story.
In John Harvey Gray’s words, “Even before Lourdes Gray began her Reiki training with me, she had matured into an exceptional teacher and healer. Her innate compassion for all beings and devotion to healing is evident in all that she is and does. Through her own effort and intense study, she has become intimately familiar with and has truly mastered my style of teaching and practicing Reiki. For the past several years, I have been slowly passing more and more of my teaching responsibilities on to Lourdes Gray. Throughout this period of transition, she has held the primary responsibilities for conducting all levels of the Reiki classes.”
In addition to teaching all Reiki 1, Reiki 2 and Reiki 2 Advanced classes, Lourdes Gray teaches and directs the Reiki Master Program. For the last 19 years, she has been responsible for the curriculum and training of all Reiki Master and Reiki Master Teacher candidates. Lourdes Gray, with John Harvey Gray, co-created the Advanced Second Degree Program and the Reiki Master Program.
Lourdes Gray has continued to build on the foundation of John Harvey Gray’s work. She is a knowledgeable and gifted healer and works with a variety of healing modalities in helping her clients. In addition to being a Reiki Master Teacher, Lourdes Gray is a certified clinical hypnotherapist and regression specialist. She conducts the very well received “Past Lives Regression” and “Walking The Dead” seminars at the Center. Lourdes Gray is also a certified practitioner of NLP (neurolinguistic programming) and Emotional Freedom Techniques and has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Healing from Clayton College as well as a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Parasychology from Omega University, Montreal, Canada.
Her love and passion for learning, as well as her life-long interest in metaphysics, have led Lourdes Gray to conduct extensive research into the human ability to perceive auras. Her doctoral thesis from Omega University was on this topic. She later created a very popular course, “Learn to See Auras,” which she teaches in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. Lourdes Gray is currently writing a book on this subject. Recently, Lourdes, also a life-long student of crystals and their powers of healing, has developed and initiated a workshop, “Reiki Crystal Healing,” which combines the powerfully healing qualities of both Reiki and crystals.
Lourdes brings Reiki and healing to the community in many different ways. She also serves as a volunteer with the State of New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NH-DES) and heads the VLAP (Volunteer Lake Assessment Program) for Monomonac Lake in Rindge, NH monitoring and caring for the health of the lake and its surrounding wetlands. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Monomonac Lake Property Owners Association.
Lourdes enjoys spending her spare time drawing, painting, and crafting one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry using healing crystals and silver, and playing guitar and piano. She also enjoys having adventures with her dog, Sasha … boating, swimming, hiking or biking … always with a camera in tow.
In Lourdes’ Words .…
“If I had to pick three words to define my passions, these would be teaching, learning and being of service.
Students tell me that I have a natural gift for teaching, and especially for teaching Reiki. Sharing what I have learned and mastered gives me a great deal of satisfaction. I take special pride in watching my students blossom in their Reiki practice.
Learning is another passion of mine. I am insatiably curious and find great joy in expanding my level of knowledge and expertise in a variety of subject areas. I am especially interested in metaphysics and alternative methods of healing.
But the primary driving force and motivation behind all that I am and do is my desire to be of service; to help people, animals, plants and the Earth itself, to always endeavor to leave things a little bit better than I found them. This has given my life its meaning.
I believe that to be a true Reiki Master, one needs to always strive to be of service; to understand what others are seeking, and ask, ‘How can I best help this being or situation?’ Ultimately, Reiki is about serving and loving unconditionally all that has been created, not only in the practice of Reiki, but in all things, during every day of one’s existence. This is what I learned as a child from my parents, and also, hand to hand, from Reiki Masters Usui, Hayashi, Takata and John Harvey Gray. This is what I seek to pass on to you.” Lourdes Gray
