One of the greatest gifts Reiki offers us is the ability to heal ourselves through self-treatment. As practitioners, we do not use our own energy for healing. Once attuned to Reiki, our hands can provide the healing energy to anyone whether they are human, animal, or plant. There is no need for prayer or meditation as the cells of that person automatically recognize and draw in the Reiki energy. This process works whether we are treating another’s body or our own, without any effort or concentration on our part. It can even be done while asleep, as long as our hands are in contact with the body.

Rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, allergies, pre-menstrual syndrome and other chronic illnesses can often be improved by Reiki, keeping in mind that conditions present for years are unlikely to disappear overnight. Consistency is the key. Note: Make sure to consult your licensed medical practitioner for any conditions that may require medical treatment. Reiki is not a replacement when medical treatment is needed.
